Pretty easy and it adds just a little touch of color, which is pretty sweet. I had two. One just...fell off the damn wall and shattered all over the floor. There also was the problem of the paint that got ripped off the wall from the mirror. GREAT. I needed to cover that up. ASAP.
Except. I don't have any stickers, which is what the above mirror was made using. Pretty easy concept - put stickers on a mirror, paint over the entire mirror, peel the stickers off, and viola. Alas. No stickers. So I figured I'd make my own stencils!
Out of notecards. Because they're heavier than normal paper. They were a real bitch to make and cut out.
But it worked. I stuck them onto the mirror with stickytack. Yeah - that crazy yellow tacky stuff I remember from elementary school. Why I have any in my apartment, I don't really know. But DAMN was it a lifesaver. Without it, the letters wouldn't have stuck to the mirror and paint would have gotten alllll up under the letters. Or the letters would have moved during painting. Either way. That's bad.
Ok, so letters went on and covered the mirror in paint using acrylic paint and a sponge brush. Quick and dirty. Dried quickly enough (but I did use a hairdryer to finish it off because there were a couple places where the paint got on a little too thick.
TA-DA! Final look. You can see at the bottom where some paint seeped under/through the notecard. But, I just used the tweezers I used to peel the letters off to clean off the letters as much as I could.
My apartment is still bare. But at least I have two mirrors up now and not one plus a missing spot of paint. New adventures await later. Tomorrow calls for more 6" x 6" mirrors, and big scrapbook letter stickers.
